My Coast - Rocky Point

The A-Z of the Central Coast, NSW, Australia

Welcome to the seventeenth installment of my photo blog exploring my local area, the Central Coast. This week's destination, with the absence of any suburbs beginning with "Q", takes me to my "R" destination, Rocky Point.

R-Rocky Point

Rocky Point is a very small suburb situated on the edge of the Tuggerah Lake. The suburb is made up of only a handful of residential streets, and it covers an area of about 10 hectares.

Looking out over Tuggerah Lake

We drove out to Rocky Point during a break in the weather. It had been raining for seven days solid and then we seized our chance when the sun came out to go out for a drive. We were rewarded as it was a glorious day when we arrived. It is only a 25 minute drive from our house, but just far enough for the kids to get some sleep and be in the mood to explore.

View across the water to The Entrance

Rocky Point is home to around 200 residents. There is a large number of residences that back onto the lake. When we visited the water level was very high after the torrential downpours of the previous week. The grass was a deep green colour and was very heavy underfoot, which is unusual for this time of the year.

Bush trail

We went for a walk through the tree lined path that started from the end of one of the streets and carried on along around the shore of the lake. The kids thought that this was great fun as they got to check out the clearings.

Plants

We walked up the shoreline for a few minutes when it became clear that we would not be able go to any further as the path was flooded by the lake. We turned around and then came back taking time to check out the plants and flowers, so Ruby and I could take some photos.

Spiders lurking in the bush

We had a brilliant afternoon out in the autumn sunshine and took a customary stop off at a playpark so the kids could have a run around before it was time to go home

All ready for home

Thank you very much for reading. I will be back with my next destination, Somersby, next month.
